Muturi slams Ruto’s government over Abductions

Cabinet Fractures as CS Justin Muturi Critiques Ruto Government for Abductions of Kenyan Youth

Public Service Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi has voiced strong criticism against the government, addressing the alarming trend of abductions targeting Kenyan youth.

At a press conference held on Sunday at the Serena Hotel in Nairobi, Muturi condemned President William Ruto’s administration, seeking closure and expressing his indignation over his son’s abduction in June, coinciding with the peak of anti-government protests.

He stated that he felt compelled to speak out regarding the ongoing abductions after his previous requests to security officials went unanswered.

“One of the accusations we directed at the former regime was regarding abductions and forced disappearances. Today, we are witnessing similar incidents, primarily affecting the youth,” Muturi expressed.

“My own son was abducted, causing us significant distress, and at that time, I was serving as Kenya’s Attorney General and a member of the National Security Council,” he continued.

“I made numerous attempts for over six months to seek clarification, yet to date, there has been no explanation,” the CS added.

As a result, he has urged President William Ruto to take action against this alarming trend.

Human rights organizations report that more than 80 Kenyans have been abducted since June 2025 amidst ongoing anti-government demonstrations.

The latest reported cases involve the disappearance of five individuals known for their criticisms of President William Ruto and his administration on social media.

The individuals include Billy Mwangi, Peter Muteti, Bernard Kavuli, Rony Kiplangat, and cartoonist Gideon Kibet, commonly referred to as Kibet Bull.
