Shock as Mudavadi’s ANC Party Dissolves, Absorbed into Ruto’s UDA Power Play!

The Amani National Congress (ANC), formerly led by Musalia Mudavadi, has been officially disbanded, marking the end of its political journey. Registrar of Political Parties Ann Nderitu confirmed the dissolution, stating that the decision was made voluntarily during a special national congress held on February 7, 2025.

According to the announcement, the ANC party officially ceased to exist on March 7, 2025, following legal procedures under the Political Parties Act.

“The Amani National Congress resolved to dissolve itself voluntarily in accordance with its party constitution,” read part of the official notice.

The move follows ANC’s decision to merge with President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA) on January 17, 2025, in a strategic political shift aimed at consolidating influence in Western Kenya.

With the merger, ANC leaders and staff are set to be absorbed into the restructured UDA, which is undergoing rebranding, including modifications to its logo, colors, and overall identity, as confirmed by UDA chairperson Cecil Mbarire.

Meanwhile, the ruling party continues to reshape Kenya’s political landscape. Recently, UDA struck a deal with Raila Odinga’s Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), signaling a new era of collaboration. Both Ruto and Raila emphasized unity as a means of addressing pressing national issues, though concerns have been raised within UDA over the implications of this partnership.

However, as UDA gains new allies, some coalition partners are opting out. On March 12, 2025, the Democratic Party of Kenya (DP), linked to CS Justin Muturi, officially announced its withdrawal from the Kenya Kwanza coalition, citing shifting political dynamics.

With these rapid changes, Kenya’s political landscape is undergoing a significant transformation, setting the stage for new alliances and rivalries in the coming years.
