Seven killed, several injured as Nairobi-bound bus collides with stalled truck.

A horrific road accident on the Garissa-Mwingi Highway has claimed the lives of seven individuals early Friday, July 12 morning.

The accident, which occurred near Katumba trading center, involved a bus carrying 50 passengers and a stalled trailer, leaving a trail of devastation in its wake.

The accident occurred at around 1:30 AM, according to police reports.

According to the report, the incident unfolded when the bus driver (Hassan Bura), en route from Garissa to Nairobi, attempted to overtake another vehicle.

In a desperate maneuver to avoid a head-on collision, the driver swerved back into his lane, only to collide with the stationary trailer.

“As a result of the accident, 7 people have been confirmed dead while several others have been evacuated to various hospitals,” read part of the police report.

Traffic police officers were promptly dispatched to the scene to restore the flow of vehicles and facilitate the investigation.
