Raila Slams ‘Ruto Must Go’ Calls – Warns Kenya Is Crumbling Under Politics!

Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has called on politicians to halt premature electioneering and focus on national development.

Expressing concern over the continuous political campaigns, Raila warned that excessive politicking is stalling progress, emphasizing that the right time for election-related activities will come.

He also dismissed calls for the removal of President William Ruto, arguing that Kenyans are grappling with more urgent issues that need immediate solutions.

“You say Ruto must go—then what next? There’s no need for that now. The elections will come in 2027, but Kenyans are currently struggling with serious challenges that must be addressed. We cannot be in campaign mode for five straight years; development will suffer,” Raila stated.

He stressed that governance and economic recovery should take priority, highlighting the burden of high living costs, soaring prices, heavy taxation, and rampant corruption. He defended his 10-point agenda, stating it was designed to address these issues, not as a betrayal.

Raila made these remarks in Machakos during the funeral of Colonel (Rtd) James Gitahi, who died in a tragic road accident on March 7.

Gitahi, a retired military pilot, lost his life when his vehicle collided head-on with a lorry at Kyumvi Junction on Mombasa Highway, igniting a fire. He succumbed to severe burns at the scene.

He was the husband of ODM-nominated Senator Betty Batuli Montet.
