(Kuppet) Strike Continues.

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has insisted that Kuppet must end the ongoing strike as per a court order. This insistence has led to disappointment from the teachers’ union.

Despite the rejection of their plea to halt the strike, Kuppet has reaffirmed that the strike will continue as planned. The TSC decided to take the matter to court.

They chose this route instead of continuing negotiations. Kuppet has criticized this decision. They view it as a move made in bad faith.

Kuppet Secretary General, Akello Misori, emphasized that the strike is legally protected under the national constitution. The Labor Relations Act of 2007 also ensures workers’ rights to join in union activities.

The union expressed readiness to engage in discussions with the TSC to resolve the industrial action amicably. Despite the pressure exerted by the strike, positive outcomes have been noted.

These include commitments from the Ministry of Education to offer funding. They will also hire new teachers.

In response to the TSC’s rejection of their plea to end the strike, Kuppet has maintained its stance. They highlight the importance of dialogue and stakeholder engagement in resolving the dispute.

The union has sought to avoid prolonged legal battles and emphasized its commitment to finding a mutually beneficial solution. Kuppet’s proactive approach aims to reduce disruptions in the education sector and collaborate with the TSC for a sustainable resolution.
