Junet Mohamed Defends Ruto’s Presidency

“JUNET MOHAMED Rejects Calls for RUTO’s Early Removal from Office, Emphasizes Constitutional Democracy”
Suna East MP Junet Mohamed has firmly addressed Kenyans and leaders advocating for the removal of President William Ruto before 2027, citing concerns about the country’s direction. The National Assembly Minority Leader revealed that some individuals have approached him with impeachment plans against the President. He urged advocates of this movement to allow the current administration to fulfill its five-year term as mandated by the 2010 Constitution.
“What surprises me is that just a year post-election, people who consciously voted for a candidate for a full term are asking me to facilitate their removal. I cannot engage in that process now; we will wait for the next election,” he stated.
He also noted that some present unusual narratives and expressed a preference to wait until 2027. Furthermore, he asserted that the minority side would not align with these initiatives, focusing instead on the upcoming AU elections, where Raila Odinga is vying for the Commission’s chairperson role.
“Our country operates under constitutional democracy, governed by a constitution that outlines our conduct. In such a system, elections take place every five years,” the legislator emphasized.
“As the Minority in the National Assembly, our duty is to advocate for the people’s rights through constitutional means. ”
