Gachagua Vows Protests if CJ Koome is Ousted!

Ex-Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has vowed to spearhead demonstrations if Chief Justice Martha Koome is either arrested or forced out of office.

Speaking during an interview on Sunday, February 9, with Kikuyu radio stations, Gachagua expressed strong opposition to any attempts to remove Koome, comparing it to his own impeachment.

“They want to kick out Martha Koome the same way they removed me. This time, we won’t stay silent. If they go after her, we’ll take to the streets and block major roads,” he declared.

He emphasized that political figures from the Mt. Kenya region would not stand by while their leaders were unfairly targeted by the administration.

According to Gachagua, Koome’s ousting would be a major setback for communities in the region.

“Young people have approached me, regretting that they listened to my advice to stay calm after my impeachment. They kept quiet, yet in Limuru, they still plotted against us, and the next day, our meeting was disrupted. If they attempt this again, we’ll hold demonstrations,” he added.

He further revealed that youth from the region were dissatisfied with his previous stance of non-confrontation following his removal from office.

During a speech at Meru PCEA Church on January 26, Gachagua accused President William Ruto of planning to dissolve the Supreme Court in preparation for the 2027 elections, alleging that funds had already been allocated for this agenda.

“There’s a deliberate effort to dismantle the Supreme Court before 2027. Money has already been set aside for this through the National Intelligence Service,” he claimed.

His remarks followed reports that Koome’s security detail had been withdrawn and later restored, a development that echoed similar patterns affecting top judges in recent years.

Suggesting that these actions were intended to intimidate Koome into stepping down, Gachagua alleged that the government was behind numerous petitions filed at the Supreme Court.

“All those cases before the Supreme Court are government-orchestrated. They want judges who will align with their interests,” he concluded.
