A tragic incident occurred in Siaya County. A 32-year-old woman named Rosemary Anyango lost her life after a gold mining shaft collapsed.

It buried her alive. The incident took place in Uradi village while Rosemary was engaged in routine mining activities with four others.

Despite efforts to save her, she was trapped at the deepest end of the shaft, leading to her demise.

During the rescue try, a 20-year-old man named Brandon Omondi also sustained injuries while trying to reach Rosemary. The collapsed shaft continued to cave in, injuring Brandon’s lower limbs.
