UK Urges President Ruto for Transparency on Abductions

UK Government Pressures Ruto for Answers on Recent Abductions Following Release of Five Victims

The United Kingdom is demanding answers from President William Ruto’s administration regarding a recent surge in abductions.

In a statement issued yesterday, British High Commissioner to Kenya, Neil Wigan, urged Ruto and his administration to carry out prompt and transparent investigations into the recent disappearances of young Kenyans.

While he expressed approval for the release of five Kenyans, who were found alive on January 6 after their sudden disappearances, he emphasized that Kenya’s approach to these abductions would reflect the nation’s commitment to upholding fundamental rights.

According to Wigan, addressing these issues effectively would also enhance Kenya’s standing in the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC), which the country currently leads.

“We welcome the release of 5 Kenyans on 6 January, following their disappearance. Swift and transparent investigations into reported abductions will demonstrate Kenya’s commitment to fundamental rights,” commented Neil Wigan.
