The political foundations of the Nyanza region face destruction through an unexpected developmental breakdown, which Siaya County Assembly members plan to use for their impeachment attempt against Governor James Orengo.
The MCAs have moved to decapitate the administration of a man who the public views as the “Walking Constitution” through their opposition stronghold to execute what they call “political parricide.”
The “twisted” irony of this development lies in the profile of the target: Orengo, who spent decades toppling autocrats and drafting the very laws that govern devolution, is now being accused of presiding over an “Administrative Ghost Town.”
The impeachment dossier alleges a systemic collapse of development, citing a litany of “stalled projects” that have left the county’s infrastructure in a state of arrested decay. The MCAs contest the national recognition of the governor’s legal expertise while claiming his “Grassroots Connection” has reached its lowest point. The Assembly members who seek to oust him from office plan to strip away the “untouchable” protection that ODM elite members currently enjoy.
Political analysts suggest this mutiny is a “strategic divorce.” As the 2027 general election looms, local leaders are no longer willing to hide behind the shadow of national icons if the taps in their wards are dry. The allegation is clinical: Siaya is currently suffering from “executive paralysis,” which has caused legal concepts to take precedence over essential public services such as water supply and healthcare and road maintenance.
