Ruto Announces ‘Climate Works Mashinani’ A Program for Youths.

President William Ruto has announced the return of the Kazi Mtaani program. It is now renamed as ‘Climate Works Mashinani’. The program focuses on environmental conservation activities for youths.

• The announcement was made in Kisumu in response to calls for job creation for the youth in the region. • Ruto mentioned that the program is in the planning stages.

It will commence in a month. The aim is to engage youths in environmental conservation-related tasks. • He emphasized the creation of income avenues for the youth.

These avenues include various programs like Climate Works, affordable housing projects, digital jobs, manufacturing, and market opportunities.

• The Kazi Mtaani project was initially started by former President Uhuru Kenyatta. It aimed to support young Kenyans during the economic challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic.

• Ruto had earlier discontinued the program after assuming office in 2022. He cited a shift towards housing construction over garbage collection.

• He emphasized the need for employment opportunities within the housing sector. He also expressed plans to expand job opportunities in the housing project, particularly in areas like Kibra.

• Ruto criticized the minimal employment impact of the Kazi Mtaani project. He emphasized the importance of creating more job opportunities for the youth.

• Besides the Climate Works Mashinani program, Ruto mentioned other avenues for youth employment. These avenues include affordable housing projects, digital jobs, manufacturing, and market participation.

• The focus is on providing sustainable income sources for the youth. Another focus is expanding employment opportunities beyond the earlier Kazi Mtaani initiative.

• Ruto’s efforts aim to tackle youth unemployment challenges. They also aim to create a conducive environment for economic empowerment and growth in various sectors. Ruto Announces ‘Climate Works Mashinani’
