Prison warder takes own life after fatally attacking wife in Kitui.

A prison warder fatally attacked his wife with a panga before taking his own life in a tragic incident that occurred in Mwingi West Sub-County, Kitui County.
The warder, who was stationed at Garissa GK Prison, confronted his wife, a primary school teacher, and killed her following an altercation on Thursday.
The incident was verified by the area sub-county police commander, Ephantus Kenyatta. The 54-year-old man accused his 47-year-old wife, a teacher at Kateiko Primary School, of infidelity.

“We recovered a note that we believe was left by the warder, indicating his bitterness towards his wife for allegedly being promiscuous,” the OCPD stated to the Star via phone.
The couple’s child, who went to check on their parents at home, discovered the mutilated body of their mother lying lifeless in a pool of blood in the bedroom and promptly alerted the police.
“The police arrived at the scene but were unable to locate the man immediately. ” A search of the compound revealed his body hanging from a tree behind the house,” stated Kenyatta.
He mentioned that the police also found a handwritten note in which the deceased prison warder indicated that he committed this tragic act due to his wife’s infidelity.
Kenyatta noted that the bodies were taken to the Migwani Level IV Hospital morgue in Mwingi West Sub-County for preservation while the investigation into the incident continues.
