Police Officer Arrested After Shooting Tuk Tuk Operators in Kakamega.

A police officer in Kakamega County was arrested after an altercation with a tuk-tuk crew on the Kakamega-Kisumu Road. The officer, identified as Nathan Bett, returned his pistol with 13 rounds of ammunition.

He had fired two rounds during a scuffle with the tuk-tuk crew. The officer claimed the crew refused to stop, alleging they intended to kidnap him, prompting him to fire in self-defense.

The incident resulted in a 28-year-old individual sustaining two gunshot injuries and being hospitalized for treatment. Officer Bett has been placed in custody and will face charges of attempted murder as investigations continue.

The police report indicated that the officer will also face disciplinary action for issuing a firearm to a lower-ranking officer. The situation is under investigation to decide the full circumstances of the shooting.
