Police in Elementaita, Nakuru County, have apprehended eight suspects and seized 497 kilograms of bhang.
In an update on Friday, February 14, the National Police Service (NPS) reported that they acted on a tip-off from the public and conducted a raid on a local homestead.
During the operation, officers carried out a thorough search and found the bhang stored in 21 sacks.

“A coordinated security operation conducted early this morning in Elementaita, Nakuru County, led to the arrest of eight suspects and the recovery of 497 kilograms of suspected cannabis.
Acting on a tip-off from members of the public, Police Officers raided a homestead in the area, where they conducted an extensive search recovering 21 sacks of the illicit substance,” part of the statement read.
The NPS indicated that the eight suspects are currently in custody, awaiting processing and court appearance.
The police expressed gratitude to the public for the information that resulted in the suspects’ arrest.
“The National Police Service commends members of the public for providing information that led to the recovery and arrest of the suspects,” added the NPS.
This follows a recent incident where detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) arrested two drug trafficking suspects during a raid in Kombani, Kwale County.
The two individuals, Kassim Omar Konerwa and Issa Omar Konerwa, were detained with 12 sacks of bhang believed to be stored for distribution.
