Notorious Highway Robber Captured After Dramatic Chase!

On Sunday night, law enforcement officers captured a notorious lone highway robber who had been preying on truck drivers near the Isiolo-Garbatula Junction. The dramatic arrest followed a high-speed chase that ended in a crash close to Archer’s Police Post.
According to detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the 36-year-old suspect had been deceiving motorists by pretending to be a stranded traveler in need of a ride.
Earlier that night, the suspect executed his usual scheme, stopping a Mitsubishi lorry at the Isiolo-Garbatula Junction under the guise of seeking a lift to Archer’s Town.
The unsuspecting driver, acting out of kindness, agreed to help him. However, upon reaching the town, the man refused to get out, instead drawing a knife and ordering the driver to continue driving to a location of his choice.
“The suspect flagged down a white Mitsubishi lorry, pretending to be a traveler in distress. The driver, moved by compassion, stopped to assist,” the DCI stated.
“But upon reaching the agreed destination, the suspect turned aggressive, brandishing a knife and forcing the driver to continue driving against his will.”
Sensing danger, the driver made a daring escape by jumping out of the moving vehicle, leaving the assailant behind the wheel.
He immediately alerted officers stationed nearby, prompting a swift response.
Meanwhile, the suspect, in a desperate bid to escape, took control of the truck and veered off onto an unfamiliar dirt road leading toward Isiolo town—unaware that officers had already set up an ambush.
Overwhelmed by panic, he lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a tree just outside Archer’s Police Post.
Authorities arrested him at the crash scene and, upon searching the vehicle, recovered a panga, a knife, and a screwdriver—confirming his sinister motives.
