Muturi Regrets Supporting Ruto: A Cautionary Tale”

Friends cautioned me against Kenya Kwanza, but I ignored them – Public Service CS Justin Muturi expresses regret for backing Ruto

Public Service Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi has ignited controversy by voicing criticism towards President William Ruto and the administration he is part of.

During a press conference yesterday, Muturi expressed remorse for aligning himself with Ruto and his government due to the ongoing incidents of abductions and extrajudicial killings of Kenyans.

He suggested that Ruto’s administration had not fulfilled its campaign promises to Kenyans, particularly referencing Ruto’s vow to never tolerate abductions, juxtaposing it with practices from former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s regime.

In light of this, the Cabinet Secretary took responsibility, stating that although friends had advised him against supporting Ruto, he chose to believe the coalition would uphold the ideals it professed as a ‘hustler nation’ committed to the welfare of the Kenyan people.

“Many friends and political colleagues warned me against joining the coalition, but on a personal level, I was convinced it would be driven by the values it declared, aiming to serve the best interests of Kenyans,” he remarked.

“One of the accusations we leveled against previous governments was the prevalence of disappearances and extrajudicial killings of Kenyans, and we promised we would not allow such practices under our leadership. ”

“Today, there have been numerous abductions and, in some cases, unexplained deaths,” he noted.

He further implied that the Kenya Kwanza administration has failed to uphold the principles and ideals it presented to the public while seeking power.

Muturi stated that he was persuaded to join the ruling coalition because its leadership themes resonated with his party’s values.

He also expressed dismay that his son was abducted by unknown individuals in June 2024, despite his role as Attorney General at that time.
