Azimio La Umoja-One Kenya Coalition Co-principal Kalonzo Musyoka now states that former President Uhuru Kenyatta should reconcile with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
In an exclusive interview, Kalonzo expressed that if Uhuru could set aside his past conflicts with current President William Ruto and engage in a ‘handshake’ with him, then Gachagua should also not be excluded for the sake of the nation’s unity.
“President Uhuru Kenyatta is my brother, and I hold him in high regard. He rises above all this confusion. I believe his desire is for his name to remain out of these [dirty politics],” Kalonzo, who also serves as the Wiper Party leader, remarked. “My suggestion to him is that if he can meet William Ruto, there is no reason he should not meet Gachagua. This way, his name remains above all this. ”
When asked if he was aware of a recent meeting between Uhuru and Ruto, the former vice president indicated that Uhuru who is also the Azimio coalition chairperson was straightforward with him.
“And anyone seeking advice from Uhuru, whether it is William Ruto, may approach him for guidance. Uhuru was very explicit, telling Ruto that the nation requires a robust opposition. He informed him that the country is suffering from excessive taxation, causing companies to leave Kenya. ”
Days after the meeting between Uhuru and Ruto, which surprised many Kenyans, President Ruto declared a Cabinet reshuffle and introduced new appointments, with Uhuru’s associates benefiting significantly.
Former Health Cabinet Secretary (CS) Mutahi Kagwe was appointed as the CS for Agriculture. Former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo was appointed as the CS for ICT and Digital Economy, while former Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui was selected to oversee the Trade and Investment portfolio.
Former Laikipia Governor Ndiritu Muriiithi was appointed as the Board Chair at the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA).
Political analysts have suggested that Uhuru played a direct role in the appointment of his allies within President Ruto’s government.
