Kalonzo Reveals Why ‘Azimio’ Is No Longer Used.

Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has revealed why the other parties in the Azimio coalition have stopped using the coalition’s name.

Kalonzo explained that they have been careful not to mention the name because parties within it, such as the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), chose to concentrate on bolstering themselves following Raila Odinga’s collaboration with President William Ruto.

However, he stated that in the upcoming year, Azimio will release a statement affirming their role as the opposition coalition.

“We are very cautious about using Azimio because I have observed that ODM has not referred to Azimio themselves. They are attempting to fortify their own position, and now that they are partially in government, it is somewhat complicated, and I can comprehend that, but the year and days ahead,”

“We will clarify that we are the opposition, and we will hold William Ruto’s administration fully accountable, and we will be issuing a statement to provide that direction,” Kalonzo remarked on KTN.

The Wiper leader affirmed that those like him who remain in the Azimio coalition will continue to align with the Kenyan public in their call for enhanced governance.

“Those of us still in Azimio believe we will continue to stand with the people, and that’s why we have stated we are the people’s loyal opposition. ”

Regarding the future of the coalition, Kalonzo indicated that it will be up to the coalition leaders to make a decision.

He mentioned that, so far, he has not received any communication from Azimio Coalition chairman and former President Uhuru Kenyatta or Azimio party leader Raila Odinga about leaving the coalition.

“Whether Azimio will persist is a matter that the leaders will need to mutually decide. ”

This follows a few weeks after President William Ruto met Uhuru at his Ichaweri residence and subsequently appointed some of his associates to important government roles.

Kalonzo has repeatedly stated that he will not collaborate with Ruto.
