Gachagua Ally Allegedly Abducted After Ol Kalou Clash

The Democracy for Citizens Party’s Political Affairs Director, Stanley Kimure, has allegedly been abducted following the clash between President William Ruto and Rigathi Gachagua in Ol Kalou on Wednesday.

While relying the news, Lawyer Ndegwa Njiru, allied to Gachagua, said unknown individuals around Rironi allegedly abducted the DCP official.

“DCP Political Affairs Director Stanley Kimure (Stano) has been abducted by unknown individuals around Rironi,” stated Lawyer Njiru.

He added that he was with Mark Muriithi Mwenje, Member of Parliament for Embakasi West Constituency, and was abducted using a Subaru Forester.

The alleged abduction ensued after a fiery exchange between President William Ruto’s camp, and that of Gachagua during the burial of the late Ol Kalau MP David Kiaharo on April 8, marking their first time both leaders shared the same stage following Gachagua’s impeachment in October 2024.

Tension escalated when Nyandarua Senator John Methu, an ally of Gachagua, was forced to end his speech after declaring that he “respects but does not fear” President Ruto. Methu was interrupted by other leaders after specifically acknowledging Gachagua and criticizing National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah.

Gachagua took the opportunity to address his removal from office, appearing emboldened and directing criticism at his successors and Ruto’s allies. He was warmly received by a section of the crowd and aimed to demonstrate his continued influence in the region.

President Ruto strongly pushed back against claims that he needed permission to visit the Mt. Kenya region, directly addressing Gachagua’s assertions of regional leadership.

Ruto stated, “I cannot be asked for permission from anybody, nor am I going to ask for permission from anybody. I will speak and deliver to all the people of Kenya as the President of Kenya”.
