Former Samburu Governor Moses Lenolkulal has filed an appeal. He is challenging the High Court’s decision to sentence him to eight years in prison.

He must pay Ksh84 million for corruption charges. Lenolkulal criticized the Chief Magistrate for not properly analyzing the evidence presented by the prosecution.

Lenolkulal urged the Appellate Court to set aside the case for a lower court to review. He argued that the Magistrate made errors in fact and law by not fully evaluating the evidence and misinterpreting his Declaration of Conflict of Interest

Lenolkulal claimed the sentence was unlawful and requested an expedited appeal process.

The former governor was found guilty of conflict of interest and unlawful property acquisition, leading to the Ksh84 million penalty. His accomplice was also ordered to pay Ksh83 million

The Judge emphasized that Lenolkulal’s actions violated public trust and the principles of Leadership and Integrity. Lenolkulal was released on a Ksh10 million bond pending the appeal process
