In a shocking and tragic incident that has left a community reeling, a Form 3 student at St. Joseph Olando Mixed Secondary School in Homabay County was brutally stabbed to death by her alleged boyfriend following a suspected relationship dispute.
The victim, identified as Alphins Opuodho, was attacked at around 11:30 PM on Tuesday night while asleep at home alongside her younger brother.
According to police reports and witnesses, the suspect stormed the house under the cover of darkness and stabbed Alphins multiple times in the back and head, leaving her fatally wounded. The assailant then turned on her younger brother, inflicting serious injuries to his hand, abdomen, and head before fleeing the scene.
Neighbors who responded to the children’s cries rushed them to a nearby hospital, where Alphins was pronounced dead. Her brother is currently receiving treatment in critical condition.

The motive behind the attack is believed to stem from relationship disagreements, although investigations are still ongoing.
Homabay County police have launched a manhunt for the suspect, who remains at large.
“This is a deeply disturbing act of violence. No young girl deserves to die like this, and we will not rest until justice is served,” said a senior police officer leading the investigation.
The tragic killing has sparked outrage and grief across the region, with residents and leaders calling for swift action and greater protection for young girls from abusive relationships.
