Fiery Plane Crash in Voi: Light Aircraft Bursts Into Flames After Plummeting From Sky!

A small aircraft carrying two people crashed and burst into flames in Ikanga village, Voi, Taita Taveta.

Eyewitnesses described seeing the plane plummet from the sky before erupting into a massive fireball upon impact. Videos captured the intense inferno consuming the wreckage just moments after the crash.

Initial reports indicate that both occupants may have perished in the blaze, though some sources suggest that one fatality has been confirmed while official details are still pending.

Emergency responders, including police and firefighters, rushed to the scene as efforts to contain the fire and secure the crash site began. Witnesses shared dramatic footage showing the wreckage engulfed in flames, with first responders battling to douse the inferno.

Authorities have cordoned off the area as a growing crowd gathers to witness the aftermath of the tragic accident.

Footage reviewed by wamuzinews.co.ke reveals the aircraft scattered into multiple fragments, with its nose and tail section detached. Based on images, the downed plane appears to be a Cessna 172, with the front section completely incinerated.

Debris, including charred remnants of the wheels, tail, and wings, lies in disarray at the crash site.

The cause of the crash remains undetermined.

This incident follows two fatal aircraft accidents reported earlier in January.

On January 10, a light aircraft crash-landed in Malindi County, killing three individuals on the ground, including a motorcycle taxi rider and their passenger. The aircraft ignited upon impact near the Malindi-Mombasa highway. Fortunately, the pilot and two students on board escaped before the fire erupted and were treated for injuries.

Later, on January 30, a Cessna 185 crashed at Kedong Ranch in Naivasha, claiming the lives of both people on board. The flight had departed from Wilson Airport in Nairobi, heading to Mbaruk, before the tragedy struck at around 5:14 PM.

Rescue efforts in that incident were hindered by rough terrain and unfavorable weather conditions.

Authorities continue to investigate the latest crash in Voi as questions mount over the circumstances leading to the tragic accident.
