Eric Njoka, a former K24 journalist now working at Zee Media Corporation Limited in India, shared his experience. He lost a fully-funded 5-year CNN training program opportunity. The chance was unexpectedly taken away just before he was set to leave, altering his career path significantly. Despite the disappointment, Njoka sees this event as a pivotal moment in his life.

In 2011, Njoka was selected for the prestigious CNN Journalism Fellowship. This was a moment of great pride for him and his late mother.

Nevertheless, just before his departure to the USA, he received a message. It instructed him to cancel his trip and retrieve all documents. These orders came from his office manager. This abrupt cancellation left Njoka devastated and embarrassed, especially witnessing his mother’s distress. Despite the setback, he remained composed and determined to move ahead.

He was laid off from Mediamax in 2020. This led him to his current role at Zee Media Corporation Limited. He expressed gratitude for his time at K24 and embraced new challenges with a positive outlook.

Known as “the Anchorman,” Njoka continues to navigate his career in the media industry, battling personal struggles like depression. Despite the setbacks he faced, he remains focused on his journey and looks ahead to new opportunities. Njoka’s story serves as a reminder of the resilience needed in the face of unexpected challenges. It also emphasizes the importance of staying determined in pursuing one’s goals.
