“Clueless fellows!” – ODM Chair Wanga Erupts as Opposition Escalates Raila Attacks.

In a dramatic escalation of political tensions, Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) National Chairperson and Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga unleashed a blistering rebuke tonight, accusing opposition figures of unleashing “shallow and divisive” attacks on former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

In a sharp rebuke delivered during burial proceedings in Homa Bay, Wanga ripped into opponents, notably former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, for what she described as their relentless and baseless assaults. “Leave Raila alone,” she thundered. “We cannot have an opposition of scavengers and clueless fellows who do not know what they are talking about.”

Wanga did not mince words. She accused these leaders of “walking around Kenya trying to divide the nation along tribal lines,” warning that such rhetoric would not stand. Instead, she urged critics to “find a more meaningful agenda” than attacking Raila.

Her incendiary remarks come amid growing fissures in the opposition, triggered by Raila’s decision to participate in President Ruto’s Broad-Based Government—an alignment that hardline Azimio loyalists have branded as betrayal.

Wanga defended Raila’s move as part of a courageous political journey, vowing unwavering loyalty. “That is the journey that we are on, and we are going to walk it without shame,” she declared, signaling ODM’s continued commitment to the alliance despite internal dissent.

She charged that the opposition was opportunistically harnessing the Gen Z‑led protests, painting them as young protestors being manipulated to destabilize the unity government and tarnish Raila’s reputation. “The Gen Z will not allow you to hijack that course for your selfish reasons,” Wanga asserted.

As opposition rallies intensify across Western Kenya—with Gachagua, Fred Matiang’i, Kalonzo Musyoka, and George Natembeya launching open attacks—Wanga’s speech marked a fierce defense, warning her party will not be “bullied into abandoning its leader.”

Political analysts are watching closely: Wanga’s fiery intervention could reinforce Raila’s authority within ODM, while the opposition’s strategy to paint the alliance as tribal betrayal may backfire. The next hours and days promise a heightened standoff, with seismic consequences for Kenya’s already fragile political landscape.
