Political Earthquake Rocks UDA: Governor Mbarire Explodes Over Alleged Betrayal from Within Ruto’s Government.

A storm is brewing within President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA), and its epicenter is in the heart of Mt Kenya.

In a fiery and unexpected outburst, UDA Chairperson and Embu Governor Cecily Mbarire has dropped a political bombshell, accusing shadowy figures within the government of orchestrating a campaign to undermine her leadership. Her dramatic allegations are now sending shockwaves through the ruling party and could deepen divisions in a region once considered a UDA stronghold.

Sources reveal that Mbarire’s wrath stems from a simmering fallout with Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, though she stopped short of naming him directly. In a speech brimming with fury and frustration, the governor lashed out at unnamed Nairobi-based officials, accusing them of sneaking into Embu under the cover of darkness to hatch secret plots aimed at toppling her administration.

“I know what’s going on,” Mbarire declared to stunned supporters. “Government officials are working hand-in-hand with local leaders to sabotage me — yet I have paid the highest political price defending this very government!”

Her remarks struck a nerve. Mbarire claims she has endured public backlash from Embu residents for backing the administration, only to be betrayed by the very leaders she stood by.

“Those night meetings? They reek of disrespect. These outsiders from Nairobi think they understand Embu politics better than us,” she fumed.

The firestorm sparked swift political commentary.

Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale didn’t mince words in his response, telling Mbarire to “toughen up” and join the ranks of those sidelined within the party. He referenced similar treatment he and ex-Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama faced, despite their roles as UDA founders.

“This is how the game is played, Governor. Don’t cry — move forward,” Khalwale said, alluding to the party’s history of sudden leadership shake-ups, including Mbarire’s own replacement of Muthama as Chair and the elevation of Cleophas Malala to Secretary General.

Political analyst Samuel Owida weighed in, painting a grim picture for the party’s future in Mt Kenya.

“After the messy fallout with Rigathi Gachagua and now this blow-up from Mbarire, UDA is bleeding internally. The party is fractured, and Mt Kenya’s loyalty is no longer guaranteed,” he said.

Owida warned that growing turf wars and internal sabotage among UDA’s top brass in the region could spell disaster in 2027 — especially if power struggles continue unchecked.

The question now hangs heavy in the air: Is Mt Kenya slipping through Ruto’s fingers? The ruling party may be staring down a full-blown mutiny from within, and the fallout could reshape Kenya’s political future.
