Tension is brewing in Mount Kenya as former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua delivers a fiery warning to President William Ruto just days before his grand tour of the region.
In an electrifying turn of events, Gachagua stormed Wangige, Kiambu County, on Monday, March 31, engaging locals in a dramatic public showdown. And he did not hold back.
Launching a scathing attack on his former boss, the outspoken politician accused Ruto of taking credit for projects that his government never initiated. According to Gachagua, the President is merely riding on the legacy of his predecessor, Uhuru Kenyatta.
“Mr. President, let’s tell the truth. You are coming to Mount Kenya to showcase development, but let’s be honest—these projects were started by Uhuru Kenyatta, and you haven’t even completed them!” he declared, sending shockwaves through the crowd.

But that wasn’t all. In a stunning revelation, Gachagua exposed what he called a “grand deception” by the President—a pre-tour media blitz on Central Kenya’s local radio stations. The former DP warned that this was nothing but a calculated move to mislead the people before his arrival.
“Don’t be fooled! I hear he will be on the radio tonight. Will you listen to him? Be careful!” Gachagua cautioned, igniting murmurs among the gathered residents.
This explosive statement comes just days after Gachagua accused Ruto of using money and incentives to woo the vote-rich Mount Kenya region, insisting that the President was determined to manipulate public perception ahead of the 2027 elections.
Ruto’s highly anticipated visit kicks off on April 1, marking his first extensive tour of Mount Kenya since August 2024. He is expected to unveil a series of projects across Laikipia, Nyeri, Meru, Kirinyaga, Nyandarua, Murang’a, Embu, Tharaka-Nithi, and Kiambu.
While the President plans to inaugurate roads, markets, electricity connections, and affordable housing, all eyes will be on his visit to Kiambu and Laikipia, where he is set to inspect the County Aggregation and Industrial Park (CAIPS).
With tensions soaring and political fireworks exploding, Mount Kenya is set for an intense showdown as Ruto’s visit approaches. Stay tuned for more updates!
