In a bold political move, the Roots Party of Kenya has officially thrown its weight behind Caleb Sunguti as the party’s historic first parliamentary candidate for the Malava Constituency by-election.
Roots Party leader George Wajackoyah, known for his unconventional politics, made the announcement on Tuesday, March 18, confirming that Sunguti had undergone intense scrutiny before securing the party’s ticket.
“This is a landmark moment for our party. We have vetted and verified Caleb Sunguti under the highest integrity standards as per Chapter Six of the Constitution,” Wajackoyah declared.

WHY THE BY-ELECTION?
The race for Malava’s parliamentary seat was triggered by the tragic death of former MP Moses Malulu Injendi, who passed away on February 17 after battling illness in the ICU.
WHO IS SUNGUTI?
A force to be reckoned with, Sunguti brings a powerhouse résumé to the political arena. Armed with a Bachelor of Education and an MBA in Project Planning and Management, he has sharpened his expertise at Kenyatta University and the University of Nairobi.
His 13-year tenure as a senior lecturer at the Kenya School of Government, Nairobi Campus, has made him a mastermind in Public Financial Management and Project Management. He has also mentored future financial experts at Kitale National Polytechnic and KCA University.
But that’s not all—before dominating the academic scene, Sunguti was a Telkom Kenya manager, proving his leadership skills stretch far beyond the lecture hall.
THE BATTLE FOR MALAVA
With over 25 years of experience in public affairs, Wajackoyah believes Sunguti is the perfect candidate to shake up Malava politics. Backed by the Roots Party’s radical vision, will he redefine leadership in the constituency?
The political battlefield is set. Can Sunguti secure victory and cement his name in Kenya’s history books?
