Shocking Confession: William Kabogo Regrets Politics, Denies Drug Baron Allegations!

William Kabogo Opens Up: “Entering Politics is One of My Biggest Regrets”

ICT and Digital Economy Cabinet Secretary William Kabogo has admitted that venturing into politics ranks among his greatest missteps.

Speaking during an interview on January 28, 2025, Kabogo reflected on his political career, which began in 2002, and the controversies that have plagued him, including allegations of drug trafficking.

“I often ask myself why I entered politics when I never lacked anything in life,” he shared. “All it has brought me are endless accusations and insults.”

Kabogo admitted that his journey in politics has been riddled with regret, particularly as he watches others work hard to provide for their families while he has never experienced food insecurity.

He noted that politics has exposed him to relentless criticism and blame, including baseless claims linking him to drug trade activities.

Recalling the early days of his political career, Kabogo shared how his use of a helicopter during campaigns in 2002 raised suspicions about the source of his wealth. Many speculated that his affluence came from illegal dealings, an assumption he firmly denies.

“In August 2002, I decided it was time for new leadership to drive Kenya forward. Coming from Mombasa, I was unfamiliar with the infamous Mlolongo system but quickly realized how things worked. It was a turning point and a warning,” he said.

He explained how people questioned his ability to afford a helicopter as a young politician, fueling rumors that he was involved in drug trafficking.

Despite the enduring chatter, Kabogo emphasized his innocence. “People talk, and the internet never forgets, but I have never been connected to or associated with anyone involved in drug-related activities,” he stated.

Kabogo’s remarks paint a picture of a man disillusioned by the political world, regretting the toll it has taken on his reputation and personal life.
