Gachagua and Allies Unveil New Political Movement

Gachagua and Allies Launch New Political Movement, Sauti Ya Mwananchi

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, along with a group of leaders from the Mt. Kenya region, has united to establish a new political entity named Sauti Ya Mwananchi. This initiative was introduced after a meeting held on Friday, January 10, at Gachagua’s Wamunyoro residence.

In a post-meeting statement, Gachagua characterized the assembly as a crucial advancement in determining the political trajectory of the country in anticipation of the 2025 elections. He stated, “Today I spent the day with Kenya’s leading elected officials in extensive consultations and exchange of ideas at our Wamunyoro residence. “

Gachagua underscored the team’s collective vision and its position as the lone political voice presently representing the interests of the Kenyan populace. “This team – commonly identified as Sauti Ya Mwananchi and currently the only political entity advocating for the people of Kenya – comprises elected Governors, Senators, MPs, MCAs, and other leaders who exchanged their insights on the way forward for 2025,” he noted.

While Gachagua refrained from disclosing specific strategies, his confidence in the group’s prospects was evident. “Listening to them and from the various other consultations we have had so far, it seems the future is looking promising,” he concluded.

He has revealed intentions to forge new political alliances and potentially create a new party leading up to the 2027 General Elections. Gachagua expressed openness to dialogue with various political stakeholders, including Kalonzo Musyoka, Eugene Wamalwa, and George Natembeya, stressing that future political collaborations will be grounded in formal agreements rather than mere loyalty. “We will first build our own house. We have learned from past mistakes of fully aligning with Ruto. This time, we will engage with others, including Kalonzo Musyoka, Eugene Wamalwa, George Natembeya, and even Ruto is welcome to join the conversation,” he remarked in December 2024.

In recent days, Gachagua has been actively meeting with leaders from Mount Kenya counties to strengthen the political coalition of the region.
