Kipchumba Murkomen Denies Involvement in Kenyan Abductions

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has rejected allegations connecting him to the abductions of young Kenyans critical of Ruto’s government. Through advocates Danstan Omari and Sam Nyaberi, Murkomen clarified that he neither authorized these actions nor was aware of the missing individuals.

“The CS has no legal or constitutional authority for abductions. The responsibility for protection and security rests with the Inspector General of Police,” the advocates asserted. “The CS has neither sanctioned nor condoned any abductions or extrajudicial actions. Those responsible will face legal consequences. “

Two petitions related to the matter are set for a hearing, where Justice Bahati Mwamuye will summon Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja, Murkomen, and the Director of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, Amin Mohamed.

Murkomen reiterated his concern over the abductions and the importance of clarity in the investigations. “As a citizen and the CS, he is alarmed, which is why he condemns such acts. His focus is on policy,” Omari added, noting that Murkomen has engaged private advocates rather than the Attorney General for his representation in the petitions.
