Ichung’wah Confronts Natembeya Over Abduction Claims at Funeral

National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah reprimanded Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya regarding his comments on abductions in the country. During the funeral of National Speaker Moses Wetang’ula’s mother in Kabuchai, Bungoma County, attended by President William Ruto, Ichung’wah accused Natembeya of inciting division.

Ichung’wah urged Natembeya, a former regional commissioner, to assist the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) with any information he may have about the abductors. “While abductions do occur, if you know the identities of the abductors, as you should, provide that information to the DCI for investigation. “

He further questioned Natembeya’s previous inaction during instances of abduction and murder in Kerio Valley, asserting, “Your attempts to create division among Kenyans along tribal lines will fail. Shame on you! “

This confrontation followed Natembeya’s remarks suggesting that some individuals were downplaying the seriousness of abductions and even claiming that victims were fabricating their experiences. Natembeya expressed concern over these assertions, emphasizing the tragic reality of abductions and the need for transparency. “It is unfortunate for any leader to claim that people are misleading us. Our children are disappearing and being killed,” he stated, underscoring that even the president acknowledged the need to halt these abductions.
