Is Mbadi Eyeing Presidency After Treasury Stint? His Remarks Spark Debate

National Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi has confidently announced his aspiration to pursue the presidency in the future.

In a statement that has raised more questions among Kenyans, Mbadi remarked that the presidency should not be limited to a select few and stressed that nothing would hinder him from seeking the highest office shortly.

Nonetheless, he clarified that he will aim for the presidency in 2032 after President William Ruto’s tenure ends.

“The Presidency is not reserved for a select few. I am also qualified and would contemplate running for the position after Ruto’s term concludes,” he stated.

Mbadi emphasized that the chance to lead the nation is available to all Kenyans and he would not be discouraged by the notion that only ‘certain individuals’ are destined for the position.

This announcement comes even as some leaders have dismissed Busia Senator Okiya Omtatah’s 2027 presidential ambitions, claiming he lacks the financial resources for a serious campaign and that people tend to avoid associating with a “poor man” like him.

In the same context, Mbadi called on the Luo community to come together to support President Ruto’s leadership.

According to Mbadi, the community needs to collaborate with the current government, acknowledging the importance of unity in advancing the nation.

Mbadi remarked that Ruto genuinely has good intentions for the Luo community, just as he does for all Kenyans.

He stressed that the community should recognize and value Ruto’s leadership, pointing out that the president has demonstrated dedication to addressing the needs of all ethnic groups, including the Luos.

According to Mbadi, the Luo community owes Ruto a sense of gratitude for his efforts and contributions to national development, asserting that his leadership has positively impacted the country as a whole.
