An outspoken Luhya Community Member of Parliament has criticized his colleagues for applauding President William Ruto with a standing ovation following the cancellation of Adani Group deals in Kenya last week.

Ruto terminated these agreements after Adani Group Chairman, Gautam Adani, was indicted on bribery charges by a New York court. Sirisia MP John Waluke voiced his discontent regarding his colleagues’ actions during the cancellation of government deals with Adani.

He questioned why the MPs chose to give the President such a response. The MP suggested that there are more appropriate ways for MPs to commend the President for directives that benefit Kenyans.

“This issue of MPs clapping like school children, even I do not appreciate. If the President makes a decision, there is a manner of clapping that does not involve standing up and behaving like children,” he stated. “We should refrain from such conduct and focus on listening. “
