President William Ruto expressed gratitude to former Prime Minister Raila Odinga for his role in averting national calamity and his willingness to collaborate on establishing a comprehensive governing body.
Amid the turbulent Gen Z demonstrations in June and July, Ruto approached Raila with a plea to establish a coalition government as a gesture towards pacifying the disgruntled youth population that had plunged the nation into chaos.
Addressing attendees in Kakamega during the felicitation ceremony for Cooperatives and MSMEs Cabinet Secretary Wycliffe Oparanya, Ruto underscored the imperative of national unity in realizing Kenya’s collective ambitions.
The president advocated for a lasting partnership with the opposition leader, envisioning the potential accomplishments achievable in a climate of harmony and stability.
“We are all committed to this shared path. I extend my gratitude to my esteemed colleague for embracing this mutual endeavor to unite all Kenyans,” Ruto remarked.
Ruto’s comments coincided with Raila Odinga’s refutation of speculations regarding the formation of a power-sharing agreement with the Kenya Kwanza administration.
