AFC Leopards strengthened their push at the top end of the Kenya Premier League table with a hard-earned 1-0 victory over Tusker FC at Nyayo National Stadium on Sunday.
The match was defined by structure and discipline from both sides, with neither willing to take excessive risks early on.

Tusker enjoyed spells of controlled possession in the first half but struggled to break down a compact AFC Leopards defence that remained organised and alert throughout.
At the other end, Leopards showed intent on the counterattack, though their forward moves often broke down before creating clear chances.
After the break, the tempo lifted as urgency crept into both teams’ play. Leopards began committing more players forward, pressing higher up the pitch and forcing Tusker into hurried decisions.
This shift gave AFC Leopards a territorial advantage, leading to sustained pressure and a series of set-piece opportunities in the attacking third.
Tusker remained resilient for much of the second half, absorbing pressure while attempting quick transitions. However, they struggled to produce the decisive final ball needed to trouble Leopards in any meaningful way.
Leopards then managed the closing stages with composure, slowing the game and maintaining defensive solidity to protect their slender lead.
Tusker pushed forward late on but lacked the cutting edge to find an equaliser.
The victory boosts Leopards’ title ambitions, leaving them second on 49 points, seven behind league leaders Gor Mahia. Tusker, meanwhile, remain seventh on 37 points as the season enters a decisive phase.
Elsewhere, Posta Rangers defeated Kariobangi Sharks 2-1, Kakamega Homeboyz drew 1-1 with Bandari FC, Ulinzi Stars beat Nairobi United 2-1, while Murang’a Seal and Mathare United settled for a 1-1 draw.
