KMPDU Threatens National Paralysis Over Mysterious Arrests

The healthcare system in Nairobi is approaching a complete breakdown following the Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists, and Dentists Union KMPDU declaration of an impending strike. The union accuses the government of conducting “mysterious and state-sponsored” arrests, which resulted in the execution of a leadership coup against the top officials of Nairobi Hospital.

The present standoff has created a situation in Kenyan labor relations where businesses use administrative abduction as their main technique to handle disputes. The KMPDU leadership has declared that the current conflict has evolved beyond its original scope, which involved hospital administration, because it now constitutes a fundamental threat against medical professional integrity.

The union claims that plainclothes operatives without any warrants or jurisdictional authority have been deployed to execute secret “disappearances” of officials who raised concerns about corporate governance violations and employee welfare matters.

This situation requires immediate attention. The KMPDU will create a nationwide strike, which will lead to total disruption of both public and private healthcare systems throughout the country. Doctors have declared their intention to boycott theaters and wards until their colleagues are released from “shadow custody,” which keeps them in hidden detention.

This situation demonstrates how institutions use their power to create an atmosphere of fear. The government sends a threatening message to all union leaders by targeting the executive staff of Nairobi’s main private medical facility. The doctors have initiated their complete work stoppage as their one deadly response to the situation.

The state receives an obvious message because it should not believe that police forces illegally pursuing union leaders will let medical personnel work. The ongoing labor dispute between medical professionals and governmental authorities creates a situation where thousands of patients face uncertain outcomes as the strike deadline approaches.
