Raila Odinga Slams Termination of Adani Deal as Major Blow to Kenya’s Development.

In a stunning rebuke, opposition leader Raila Odinga has expressed deep disappointment over President Ruto’s decision to terminate multi-billion shilling infrastructure deals with India’s Adani Group.

Raila warned that scrapping the ambitious airport and energy projects amounts to a setback for Kenya’s growth agenda.

Raila Warns Against Hasty Termination.

Raila said he does not regret supporting the Adani contracts, which included a 30-year concession to expand and manage Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and a KSh 95 billion electricity line project.

He described the termination as “unfortunate” and lamented that it “paints Kenya as hostile to private investment,” despite his earlier endorsement based on Adani’s track record .

The Adani deals were central to Raila’s vision of using public-private partnerships to accelerate development without overburdening taxpayers. He argued that Kenya cannot rely solely on domestic funding, stating bluntly, “People need to understand this.
