Governor James Orengo of Siaya has voiced his strong disapproval of President William Ruto’s plan to establish a broad-based government of national unity. Orengo argued that Ruto has reached a dead end and that his ruling Kenya Kwanza Alliance is a ship that is sinking and headed for disaster.
He cautioned his party chief Raila Odinga against partner with Ruto “It is a disaster to join President Ruto. Truth be told, it is an evil entity since it can’t work,” the lead representative said. He went on to say that the international community has lost faith in the President and that any vision he had for Kenyans has become a mirage.
Where will he take us? He won’t lead us anyplace. Orengo stated, “He will only lead us into a sinking ship.” Additionally, he mentioned that Ruto’s people have lost faith in him.
Talking at the memorial service of an anti-government protest victim in Alego Usonga on Saturday, July 20, 2023, Orengo cautioned that lining up with Ruto would mean acquiring or disinfecting the wrongdoings of his administration.”
I’d like to speak to those who are hurrying to join President Ruto. I say without hesitation that he is merely a fleeting cloud. Orengo argued that Odinga had warned that if anti-government protesters led by Gen Z force Ruto out of office, his deputy, Rigathi Gachagua, could take over, which would be a dark day for Kenyans. However, Orengo dismissed this argument as cheap politics.
First, he doesn’t have money because he has been borrowing heavily, and Kenyans have made it clear that he cannot borrow any more. I’ve heard rumors that the DP will take over if President Ruto leaves.
This is extremely meagre politics. If we say that Ruto must leave, he will leave with everyone who is associated with him. The Siaya governor stated, “His deputy will not succeed him in any way.”
