Woman Arrested for Allegedly Stabbing Husband to Death in Nairobi.

A 20-year-old woman named Hegrah Bonareri Wanjiku was arrested in connection with the death of her husband. Her husband is Patrick Mwaniki Njagi.

The incident occurred after a domestic altercation at Ngamate Apartments in Zimmerman, Nairobi. Wanjiku is under suspicion after a reported stabbing by Sospeter Gaitho. She will undergo a psychiatric evaluation at Mathari Mental Hospital before facing trial.

Autopsy and DNA testing on blood samples are pending. Makadara Principal Magistrate Mary Njagi granted a 14-day detention for Wanjiku, acknowledging the seriousness of the offense.

Details of the Tragic Incident

The tragic incident occurred on August 24, 2024. Wanjiku allegedly stabbed her husband, Njagi, a mobile phone technician in Nairobi’s central business district. The stabbing happened during a domestic altercation.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations officer, Corporal Charles Ombogo, informed the court about the case details. Sospeter Gaitho reported the murder to the Kasarani Police Station.

Wanjiku will undergo a psychiatric evaluation before trial. An autopsy will be conducted on the deceased to find the cause of death. The court granted a 14-day detention for Wanjiku. She will stay at Kasarani Police Station until the next court session on September 10.

Blood samples collected from the crime scene will undergo DNA testing by the government chemist.
