At least three pedestrians lost their lives when a speeding vehicle crashed into a busy pedestrian walkway along Mariakani-Kaloleni road, Kilifi County
Authorities reported that the incident occurred on Christmas Day around 5 am
Three additional pedestrians sustained serious injuries in the incident that took place near the Dam Hotel. Officials stated that the fatalities included one woman and two men.
Three other individuals were injured, and the driver was rushed to the hospital in critical condition, authorities indicated. The bodies were transferred to the mortuary pending autopsy and further procedures.

Annually, over 4,000 Kenyans perish in accidents within the country, which also leaves thousands with severe injuries and adverse impacts on families.
The incident follows another one on the Narok-Mai Mahiu road that resulted in at least seven fatalities. More than 30 others were injured in that accident.
Authorities explained that a lorry experienced a tyre burst, causing the driver to lose control while descending downhill. It subsequently collided with a salon car, a bus, and a small matatu, resulting in the immediate deaths of three passengers.
While responders were handling the scene, a second trailer approached at high speed towards Mai Mahiu and collided with a four-wheel-drive vehicle, resulting in the instantaneous death of three more individuals.
The trailer also struck a motorcyclist with two passengers, resulting in one fatality.
Authorities stated they are examining the incident. This unfolds as many individuals rush to various locations for the holiday season amidst police operations.
Deputy Inspector General of Kenya Police Eliud Lagat visited the Nairobi-Nakuru highway on Tuesday to assess the traffic flow.
The road has been experiencing heavy traffic for the past four days as a majority of Kenyans traveled for the celebrations.
This was linked to improper overtaking and low visibility. Deputy Inspector General of Administration Police Gilbert Masengeli inspected the Nairobi-Mombasa highway to evaluate the situation.
