Kisii Governor Simba Arati has warned deputy president Rigathi Gachagua over divisive politics and urged him to work together with the president.
Speaking on Tuesday, August 13, during the groundbreaking ceremony of Kisii Cancer Treatment Centre in Kisii County, Arati told Gachagua that the ODM party was ready to work with the president if he brought him problems.
“Mr. deputy president, you are welcome to Kisii. Don’t fear. Work together with the president, but if you start bringing him problems on the other side, we as ODM are ready to walk with him,” Arati remarked.
The county boss further thanked President William Ruto for appointing ODM members to his cabinet, assuring him that the Raila Odinga-led party will continue to support him.
“You know the other day I was given the position of deputy party leader of ODM. We thank you Mr. president because you came to ODM and hired people to work with you. And I want to assure you as the deputy party leader that we will continue supporting you. I want to plead with leaders to put aside political divisions and work with the president,” the governor added.
On his part, Gachagua disclosed that he has not been to Kisii County very often because he could not agree with the governor.
He, however, said that they buried the hatchet and agreed to work together.
“I have not been to Kisii County very often because we could not agree with Simba Arati in the past. But today we agree. We sat down and agreed to work together,” the deputy president said.
