Ruto Warns Youth: “Do Not Follow Leaders Who Offer No Plan” During Dandora Visit.

President William Ruto issued a stern warning to Kenyan youth today in Dandora, Embakasi West, discrediting political rivals who lack concrete strategies and urging young citizens to reject those who rely on chaos and tribalism for influence.

Ruto’s Forceful Rebuttal

During an inspection of the Nairobi River Regeneration initiative, part of his nationwide Climate WorX campaign, Ruto took direct aim at critics who he claims are “inciting youth to cause chaos and destroy property” instead of proposing job creation solutions.

He passionately declared, “You will not be led by people with no plan… Your alternative cannot be to incite violence and burn businesses”.

Job Creation Wins Under Ruto

Ruto asserted his administration has already delivered hundreds of thousands of jobs:

  • 200,000 through Climate WorX projects
  • 320,000 under the Affordable Housing programme
  • 400,000 via international labour mobility
  • 180,000 in digital platforms.

He pledged the affordable housing initiative would double within the next three months.

Reject Ethnic Politics, Embrace Progress

Ruto warned against tribalism and ethnic manipulation, urging youth: “Do not accept leadership based on tribalism or hatred.” He emphasized that sustainable development demands unity and an end to “violence, chaos, and ethnicity,” and reaffirmed his vision of inclusive growth.

Dandora’s Role in National Recovery

At Dandora’s river regeneration site, Ruto spoke to 20,000 youth beneficiaries, with another 20,000 set to join the project next week—totaling 40,000 employment opportunities in Nairobi alone. The scope includes sewer line installations, social housing, cycle lanes, pedestrian bridges, and public amenities—all aimed for completion by January 15, 2027.

He also commissioned Savannah Stage 17 Bridge Road, part of a broader effort to construct 70 km of new Nairobi roads to boost trade and ease congestion.

Political Crossroads

The president’s remarks come amid growing youth restlessness, sparked by rural-to-urban challenges, unemployment, and clashes over economic and political grievances. With #RutoMustGo and #RejectFinanceBill movements still resonating nationwide, Ruto is drawing a stark contrast: structured programs versus unrest.

What Happens Next

  • For Ruto: He must translate campaign rhetoric into measurable impact—especially on job creation and restoring trust with Generation Z.
  • For political opponents: Ruto’s challenge demands they present clear job-creation blueprints or risk being dismissed as purveyors of unrest.
  • For youth: A critical choice looms—whether to support talks and infrastructure projects or push back through protest.

President Ruto’s Dandora speech represents more than campaign posturing—it signals a definitive appeal to Kenya’s youth: reject ethnic division, embrace concrete plans, and back a positive development narrative—or be left behind.
