Former Public Service Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi has dropped a political bombshell, accusing President William Ruto of misleading the nation about his dismissal.
Speaking to the press just two days after Ruto’s explosive interview, Muturi alleged that his removal had nothing to do with incompetence—as the president claimed—but was instead a direct result of his relentless push for action against forced disappearances.
“There’s no question—I was fired for standing up against forced disappearances,” Muturi declared, adding that his dismissal proved the issue was a thorn in Ruto’s side.

Muturi revealed that he had repeatedly pressed the president through official letters, refusing to attend Cabinet meetings until the matter was addressed. However, Ruto never responded, suggesting he had no interest in tackling extrajudicial killings.
His claims sharply contradict Ruto’s recent public statements. The former CS said he had even attempted to have the matter placed on the Cabinet agenda in November, but his efforts were deliberately ignored.
“It was shocking to hear the president say on live TV that this issue was discussed and resolved in Cabinet. That is simply false,” Muturi asserted.
During Monday’s interview at Sagana State Lodge, Ruto insisted that forced disappearances were a thing of the past under his leadership, stating that he had dismantled rogue officers responsible for such acts. He further claimed that security agencies now had full operational autonomy and sufficient funding to function without interference.
Muturi, however, dismissed these statements as outright lies, maintaining that his removal was a direct punishment for challenging the government on human rights violations.
With the former CS refusing to stay silent, this latest political storm raises fresh questions about the president’s commitment to justice—and whether those who speak the truth in his administration face swift retribution.
