President William Ruto has charged Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka with being an adversary of the Luhya community. This accusation followed Kalonzo’s inquiry regarding the source of funds used by Ruto to distribute a bonus to sugarcane farmers in Kakamega.
While addressing residents in Busia, Ruto criticized Kalonzo for undermining government initiatives aimed at fulfilling commitments made to Kenyans. He clarified that the Ksh150 million bonus paid to sugarcane farmers was sourced from Mumias Sugar Company, not the government, contrary to claims made by the Azimio leader.

Ruto further accused Kalonzo of inciting division among Kenyans, emphasizing that sugarcane farmers, like other agricultural producers nationwide, deserve timely receipt of their bonuses.
“I said we will establish good management so that the farmer is not paid by the government. The bonus has been paid but not by the government; it was done by the company because we have instituted proper management,” Ruto explained.
“Tea and coffee farmers are always paid their bonuses; why do people raise unnecessary questions when sugarcane farmers receive theirs? ” he queried.
In his statements, the Head of State reiterated that it is the government’s duty to oversee such payments to ensure equitable benefits for all citizens.
