Political Showdown: Ayub Savula Slams Malala, Declares Luhya Nation Won’t Back Gachagua!

Kakamega Deputy Governor Ayub Savula Dismisses Malala’s Claims, Pledges Luhya Support for Ruto in 2032

Kakamega Deputy Governor Ayub Savula has firmly rejected former UDA Secretary General Cleophas Malala’s claim that the Luhya community will rally behind Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

Taking to his X platform, Savula declared that the Mulembe nation remains committed to President William Ruto’s leadership and will back his re-election bid through 2032.

“We want Cleophas Malala to understand that the Luhya people will not support his preferred candidate, Gachagua,” Savula asserted.

He further emphasized his stance with the phrase, “Kumi bila break,” signaling unwavering support for Ruto’s second term.

Savula’s remarks came in response to Malala’s statements on Monday, where he suggested that the Luhya community was aligning with Gachagua and other political figures to challenge Ruto in 2027. Malala hinted at the rise of a new political movement gaining traction across the country, including within the Mulembe nation.

“We have a responsibility to deliver for the country. A new political force is emerging, and it won’t be exclusive to the Mount Kenya region, as some claim. I want to assure you that we are ready to work together,” Malala told Gachagua.

He further alleged that certain forces aimed to sideline the Mount Kenya region but assured Central Kenya leaders that the Western region would stand with them.

“I have heard talk of isolating the Mountain, but I want to assure Central Kenya that you have allies in the Western region,” Malala declared.

Malala also pointed out that when he invited Gachagua to Kakamega on December 29, the deputy president only spent four hours in the region. In contrast, President Ruto had planned an extensive six-day visit, which Malala interpreted as a sign of panic within Ruto’s camp.

Malala remains a staunch supporter of Gachagua, especially after both leaders were ousted from their top positions within the ruling party.
