Muluka Declares Governments That Fail Human Rights Must Be Democratically Ousted.

In a searing political warning broadcast today, strategic communications expert and commentator Barrack Muluka declared that any administration unwilling or unable to safeguard fundamental rights—including life, liberty, and freedom of movement—loses all moral authority to govern and must face democratic removal.

Muluka leveled sharp criticism at the current ruling administration, accusing it of systematic neglect in addressing escalating cases of police brutality, enforced disappearances, and state-enabled violations. He argued unequivocally that a government becomes illegitimate the moment it allows or facilitates grave rights abuses.

He insisted that protecting citizens goes beyond development agendas and policy rollouts—it requires active defense of dignity, speech, and safety. Where violations occur under governmental watch, Muluka said, the state has failed in its duty.

Addressing the role of civilian oversight bodies, Muluka urged institutions meant to defend rights to intervene robustly. He warned that continued silence in the face of injustice emboldens abuse of power.

Muluka’s remarks crystallized into a powerful call-to-action: “If a regime permits systemic rights violations, it forfeits legitimacy; the only remedy is democratic transition.”

This intervention comes amid mounting pressure from civil society and human rights organizations, who have highlighted deeply troubling trends in Kenya’s security landscape and governance conduct.
