Kitui Central MP Makali Mulu has sent a strong and direct warning to President William Ruto ahead of his planned visit to Mt. Kenya, cautioning that he must bring real and impactful development or risk losing the region’s trust.
Speaking on March 24, 2025, during an interview, Mulu revealed that despite Mt. Kenya’s massive support in the 2022 elections, its people feel sidelined in government appointments and key projects. With tensions rising, he urged Ruto to visit the region armed with meaningful solutions—not empty promises.
“I was in Mt. Kenya last week with my party leader, and people are extremely unhappy with Kenya Kwanza’s governance,” Mulu stated.“The president can visit Central Kenya, but he must come prepared. The people voted for him, and whether they choose him again in 2027 or not, they deserve recognition for their loyalty,” he added.
MT. KENYA’S GROWING BETRAYAL
Mulu listed multiple grievances fueling the region’s frustration with Ruto’s administration.
1. Rigathi Gachagua’s Political Downfall – He accused Ruto’s camp of betraying Mt. Kenya by sidelining former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, who played a key role in securing votes.
2. Marginalization of Mt. Kenya Leaders – Mulu slammed the government for kicking out key Mt. Kenya figures from the Cabinet and Parliament, replacing them with outsiders.
3. Loss of Political Power – He pointed out that leaders from the region were stripped of committee chairmanships, reducing their influence in government decisions.
4. Unfulfilled Development Promises – He called out Ruto for failing to deliver on major projects, leaving the region feeling used and abandoned.
GATANGA MP’S WARNING: STAY OFF SENSITIVE TOPICS
Gatanga MP Edward Muriu issued a blunt caution to Ruto ahead of his Mt. Kenya visit, warning him against discussing certain issues that could spark backlash.“Your Excellency @WilliamsRuto, when you visit, avoid mentioning @rigathi.
The betrayal is still fresh. Don’t talk about your pact with Raila—it won’t sit well with the people,” Muriu wrote on X.He also advised Ruto to steer clear of discussing the Social Health Authority (SHA), affordable housing, and the Hustler Fund, labeling them as schemes that have lost public trust.
MT. KENYA FEELS USED AND DUMPED
Muriu accused Ruto of using Mt. Kenya leaders to gain power, only to discard them after securing the presidency.“You sidelined the people who stood by you and replaced them with Raila’s allies. To the mountain, that’s pure betrayal, and they won’t forget it,” Muriu’s message read.
