In a stunning political twist, Gatanga MP Edward Muriu has delivered a bold warning to President William Ruto, urging him to steer clear of any mention of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua or his alliance with Raila Odinga during his upcoming Mt. Kenya tour.
Taking to his official X account, Muriu didn’t mince words. He cautioned that bringing up Gachagua’s name could ignite fresh anger among Mt. Kenya residents, who still feel betrayed and abandoned.
“Your Excellency @WilliamsRuto, welcome to the mountain. But when you come, do not mention any leader, especially @rigathi. The wound of betrayal is still fresh. Also, avoid talking about your agreement with Raila—it won’t sit well here,” Muriu warned.

Off-Limits Topics: What Ruto Must Avoid
Muriu didn’t stop there—he went scorched earth, advising Ruto to completely avoid discussing key government projects such as:
❌ Social Health Authority (SHA)
❌ Affordable housing
❌ Hustler Fund
According to the MP, these initiatives have been met with outrage in the region, with residents dismissing them as failures. Even more controversially, he warned against mentioning:
❌ Corruption – “The people associate it with your government.”
❌ Abduction & killings – “Families here are grieving and furious.”
❌ University funding – “Thousands of students are stuck at home.”
❌ Labor migration (Majuu jobs) – “A deceptive scam; many have lost money.”
Muriu didn’t hold back, accusing Ruto of betraying Mt. Kenya leaders by pushing them out of power and replacing them with Raila’s allies.
“To the mountain people, they voted for you, not your government. Yet you have sidelined the very leaders who stood by you, throwing them out of parliamentary committees and handing power to Raila’s camp. That’s a betrayal. And it cuts deep.”

Ruto’s Response?
Ahead of his visit, Ruto met with Mt. Kenya leaders at State House to discuss development projects, insisting his government remains focused on coffee, tea, and dairy farming, infrastructure, and affordable housing.
But with Muriu’s explosive warning, the big question now is—will Ruto stick to the script, or will he defy the storm?
