MP Sudi Stands by President Ruto Against Online Criticism

MP Sudi Defends President Ruto Amid Social Media Criticism: “He’s Going Nowhere”

Kapseret Member of Parliament, Oscar Sudi, has responded to young Kenyans on social media demanding President William Ruto’s resignation, characterizing the online protests as mere noise. Speaking at a roadside rally on Friday alongside Ruto, Sudi asserted that the President will not resign despite calls for his departure.

“You know those social media users criticizing the government in Nairobi? They are making noise claiming that Ruto must go; I told them yesterday that even if they jump up, go down, or move sideways, Ruto is not going anywhere. They are pretending that they are the only ones who should run the country, but that’s not it,” Sudi said.

Sudi’s commentary arises amid growing concerns regarding the government’s handling of dissent, particularly following reports of abductions and intimidation of critics. Notably, cartoonist Gideon Kibet, recognized for his satirical portrayals of the President, was reportedly abducted by suspected state agents but has since been released.

Other critics who went missing but later returned include Kibet Bull’s brother Ronny Kiplagat, Billy Mwangi, Bernard Kavuli, and Peter Muteti.
