Mount Kenya Politics Explodes: Gachagua Launches Fierce Counter on Ruto

The current political situation in Kenya has reached a new level because former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has committed himself to protecting former President Uhuru Kenyatta from the political attacks that he claims President William Ruto and United Democratic Alliance (UDA) members are currently launching.

The statement that Gachagua made at the press event in Nairobi on Tuesday indicates that Kenya’s leadership divide has developed into a serious conflict that will shape the 2027 general election contest.

The current Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) leader, Gachagua, accused the current president of trying to intimidate and reduce Uhuru’s power because those two actions need to be proven in order to affect political partnerships during this time of unstable political conditions. He stated that any effort to accuse the retired president will face strong opposition from his supporters together with his political connections.

Gachagua asserted that he would protect Uhuru Kenyatta from all forms of attack because he accused President Ruto and his government of using the former president’s legacy to deflect responsibility for their economic and political problems. Uhuru holds a vital role in bringing together Mount Kenya leaders who will participate in the upcoming elections, according to him.

Gachagua uses his statements to build electoral support from Mount Kenya voters, who form the critical voting bloc, because he presents Uhuru as a political opponent who counters Ruto’s narrative. The new political front in the current battle extends into an environment where people express discontent about rising living expenses together with government problems and changing political alliances, which create realignment activities throughout all political groups.
